Fort Kochi
Kochi is an enchanting city which is also known as the ‘Gateway to Kerala’ and this place has been the living city for people of different races and cultures like Chinese, Dutch, British and Portuguese. The historical site of Fort Kochi is the most popular one here because they not only have historical significance, but also have a magnificent architecture.
Muzuris
If one has interest in history then they can driver for an hour to the north of the city of Kochi and visit the Muzuris. This place was used to be an important trading port in Kerala where business flourished for almost 1000 years but the place got severely damaged by floods. Later, this place was re developed by the Kerala Government as a heritage site. This place actually extends to Kodungallur where every March- April, the Bhagavathy Temple festival takes place. One can also pay a visit to the first ever mosque of India named CgeramanJuma Masjid which was built there in 629 AD.
Kerala Backwaters
This place is the most relaxing and most popular place in Kerala where one can take a trip in a houseboat to the palm fringed canals of the state. One can also get some freshly cooked local food and cans of beers to enjoy the view even more. If one books a houseboat, they can also spend the night there in the middle of the lake. One should not miss the view of the sunset from Vembanad Lake and Kakkathuruthu Island.
Marari Beach
If one wants a peaceful beach place in Kerala, then this is the right one which one can reach after driving 30 kilometres north from Alleppey. It is actually a fishing village which has a long stretch of undeveloped beach and one can book a home stay just in front of the beach to enjoy the holidays.
Periyar National Park
This is located in the Thekkady district and this place stays open throughout the year. This particular place is famous for the wild elephants and one can take a 30 minutes ride on elephants inside the jungle. Here, the jungle safari takes place by boat and one can get to see a beautiful sunset.
Munnar
This place is a very popular tourist destination in India and it is famous for its wide tea plantations. Here, one can get to see the tea leaves to be picked and processed and one can try some fresh tea just straight from the garden. Apart from that, this place has misty lakes and winding lanes which make it beautiful.
