One out of every seven people in the United States uses CBD.
But did you know that a different compound that comes from the same plant can offer even more benefits?
One of CBD’s cousins, CBG, is making big waves in the wellness world.
Here is what you need to know about CBG oil and why people are making the switch.
What Is CBG?
CBG, short for cannabigerol, comes from the cannabis sativa plant. It is one of more than 100 cannabinoids found in the hemp and marijuana plants. Other common cannabinoids that you have heard of include CBD and THC.
CBG is sometimes called the mother of all cannabinoids. This is because an acidic version of the compound called CBGA is transformed into other favorites like THC and CBD.
CBG Uses
Past research on the benefits of cannabinoids has been limited due to federal regulations.
CBG research is more difficult as well since there is far less CBG found in plants than THC or CBD. About 1% of CBG is in these medicinal plants, while the other cannabinoids clock in with at least 20%.
Despite these factors, the potential benefits of CBG are becoming more clear. Some studies have shown CBG to be effective in easing inflammation and bacterial infections. It may also have anti-anxiety effects.
Studies relating to pain management and the prevention of neurological diseases are also promising.
CBD Vs. CBG
Like CBD, CBG can ease symptoms without the psychoactive feelings created by THC. You can use CBG oil products throughout the day without the worry of feeling high at work or school.
Aside from how much CBG is found in hemp extract, the primary difference between the two is how they work in your body. Cannabis products create their effects by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system.
CBG directly binds to the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the body. Meanwhile, CBD interacts with the receptors less directly. This is why CBG may pack a bigger punch.
How to Use CBG
When it comes to buying CBG oil, you have a few options. As with CBD, you can buy oils or edibles. Otherwise, if you prefer to smoke or dab CBG, you can use flower or CBG wax.
Oils and edibles can be more discrete. But if discretion is not a concern, smoking or dabbing CBG will yield quicker results. This way, the compound will hit your bloodstream almost instantly.
There is no right or wrong way to use CBG, but it all comes down to personal preference. Either way, you’ll see results with this healing substance.
CBG Oil and Beyond
Studies are consistently being released that show the benefits of cannabis sativa products. This magical plant offers a lot of benefits. CBG oil is one product to especially keep an eye out for.
