The year 2020 has brought on sadness to the whole world with the Coronavirus pandemic. People have been fighting for survival amidst the economic, social, and political disasters. There is a dire need for people to take their minds off of suffering and chaos and find solace in laughter. This year, so many comedic movies with various combinations of genres have tried to take the weight of the world off our shoulders. If you have an excellent cable TV service, just as I have recently chosen from Spectrum TV packages, you are going to enjoy these comedies with lots of popcorn and laughter riots.

#1. Bad Boys for Life

Released on January 17, Bad Boys for Life brings the duo of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back to the big screen. The twist in the plot thickens as this installment is brewed with a mid-life crisis, family drama, action-packed sequences.

#2. The Gentlemen

This one was released on January 24 and portrays an old-fashioned Guy Ritchie with his team of the Gentlemen. Starring some of Hollywood’s best actors such as Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Dockery, and Colin Farrell, etc. the story is an amalgam of comedy and crime revolving around an American drug dealer.

#3. Sonic the Hedgehog

This comedic movie was released on February 09. The story portrays an interesting mix of comedy, action, and drama. The plot is about a little, blue, and super-fast hedgehog. Hiding in a small town from an evil genius who wants to experiment on him. He must get help from a police officer must to defeat the eccentric scientist.

#4. Emma

Emma is based on the story written by Jane Austen in her novel of the same title. Starring the actress Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma is a joyful character who meddles in the affairs of family and friends trying to help them find love. It is a mixture of romance and comedy. It was released on February 14.

#5. Onward

Released on March 06, Onward is an animated adventurous, and comedic tale of 2 Elf brothers who are on a quest to get a chance and spend one day with their deceased father. Voiced by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, this movie has it all, magic, comedy, drama, and action.

#6. My Spy  

Released on March 13, My Spy is the story that follows a CIA agent whose cover gets blown by a 9-year-old girl. Played by Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman, this movie is a series of laughter filled puns and power-packed action sequences.

#7. Irresistible

Irresistible is a political comedy that follows a Democratic strategist, played by Steve Carell. The plot shows Steve hiring a retired marine colonel to run for mayor in a small conservative town and the troubles he faces along the way. It was released on May 29.

#8. Free Guy

Free Guy was released on July 03. It shows Ryan Reynolds playing a character named Guy who is employed as a bank teller. The plot twists when Guy finds out he is a character in a video game. This pun-filled movie is sure to make you laugh.

#9. The War with Grandpa

This movie follows a comedic territorial war that goes on between a grandchild and a grandpa. Released on September 02, this movie stars Robert Di Nero, one of the most revered actors of Hollywood, along with Uma Thurman, Oakes Fegley, and Rob Reggie, etc.

#10. The Witches

Released on October 09, this movie is based on Roald Dahl’s dark fantasy fiction story written for kids. This is a story about a Grand High Witch, leader of the witch coven, who despises children and wants to turn them all into rats. Starring Anne Hathaway alongside Octavia Spencer, Chris Rock, and Stanley Tucci, this movie will surely keep you on the edge of your seats.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic has caused theaters to remain closed, you won’t be able to watch movies on the big screens any time soon. That said, you can invest in a high-speed internet connection, as I have subscribed to the Spectrum offers like TV and internet, and watch these movies on the big TV screens in Blu Ray or 4K quality. These are some of the top comedic picks of 2020 that you can laugh at with your family with lots of popcorn.
